So yeah, the whole city is on fire. So it seems. We actually got out of town yesterday morning before our town (or a large part of it) was evacuated and came north to my folks. The main issue was that Brooke’s about 2 weeks away from giving birth so really any time now we can expect the little one’s arrival and yet our hospital she was to give birth at was evacuated. That doesn’t help. So we went to Irvine to the William’s but there’s a fire just east of them so that was no help so kept moving north to Westwood and so far so good. The kids were toast last night – we dragged them all over the place – but they were happy to see their cousins. We absolutely cannot complain as our house is not in any real danger of the fires and we have a place to go. There are so many at Qualcomm Stadium and shelters and now without homes…it’s a very odd thing to live through and we’re very grateful for God keeping us safe so far.

We’re praying we can get back to SD soon (when the air’s better) and that the hospital will open up again so we can deliver in the comfort of our own home/town/doctor/etc. so feel free to add that to your list, should you be the praying sort!
