Thought I would just post what my wifey sent in an email recently…

We took her to the Orthopedist and they diagnosed her with hip dysplasia in both of her hips, basically that means they are underdeveloped because they have not been aligned properly, since birth, one side was out of socket completely and the other was very loose.  The realigned them both and have her in a harness, thankfully its made of fabric and Velcro, and its pink, so its not so bad, the harness keeps her legs bent in the butterfly position to stabilize her hips so they can develop properly…she has to be in it all the time except for baths and changing her clothes.  The Dr. said she will probably need it for at least 4-6 months, maybe longer.  The longer she is in it the better her hips will develop so that they will be strong.    He is a great Dr. and believes her hips will be fine once the treatment is done.  We are not sure why she was born with this, it is very common in little girls, usually it is hereditary, but we don’t know where in either of our families, or it could be related to her hypothyroidism.  Regardless, we still need to treat them.  We have to take her in several times a month for the first couple months to make sure it is all going well.  She is not in any pain, and for the most part is fairly comfortable, she is getting use to it as are we, it definitely takes longer to do everything now but that’s all part of it i guess.  She will learn to sit up and crawl in the harness, rolling over is going to be the most challenging since her legs are apart…but I’m sure she will find a way to do it…she is a very strong, brave, wonderful, happy little girl that i know will be just fine…

Please continue to keep her and our family in your prayers and please pray for God to give us all extra strength and energy and faith to get through this challenging time, we love you all and thanks again for your friendship and prayers.  We believe God will work all this out for the good!
